Control Grid: Digital Panopticon

The new command-and-control system will not necessarily confiscate property, nationalize companies, or formally abolish markets. It will maintain the illusion of markets while invisibly deciding:

• What can be discovered

• Who can participate

• What receives capital

• Which speech travels

• What is considered trustworthy

• Who may transact

• What choices are presented

• Which alternatives are allowed to survive

The individual may remain technically free while the world around them becomes increasingly prearranged.
